Baby Health: Are you a top mom? : Vaccines

Every year, our health authorities review the vaccination calendar. Sometimes a new vaccine is recommended (or more). But it also happens - more rarely - that some of them are removed. This regular update of vaccines is essential!

Example: Since mid-2007, BCG that protects against tuberculosis is no longer mandatory in newborns, but it is strongly recommended in some cases: if there is a history of tuberculosis in the family, if one of the parents comes from a country where TB is widespread (endemic), etc.

In the infant, according to the vaccination schedule, some vaccines are obligatory, others recommended. Six-in-one vaccines, that is, capable of immunizing against six diseases (diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pertussis, Haemophilus influenzae, hepatitis B) have been developed. Unfortunately, the pneumococcal vaccine must be injected separately.

Since 2013, the vaccination schedule has been simplified and lightened for young children, with injections at 2 months, 4 months and 11 months. The meningococcal C vaccine (an injection from 12 months old) must also be included. Also recently recommended: the vaccine against viral gastroenteritis (roatvirus), this vaccine is taken orally.
