Brain diseases: the latest advances: research in neurology

Unnamed : Has neurology made progress?

Pr Jacques Touchon : For a long time, neurology has been a rather contemplative discipline. This era is completely over. There is indeed extraordinary progress in neurology, that is to say in terms of understanding the functioning of the normal or pathological brain. This better understanding has already led to the discovery of many non-drug therapies and therapeutics.
The coming decade will certainly be the decade of the brain during which progress will cure many brain, neurological or psychiatric diseases. So it is important to support the research!

Nicolas Evrard, ed. Chief of Onmeda : What is the purpose of the Neurodon campaign?

Pr Jacques Touchon : The Neurodon campaign is initiated by the FRC (Federation for Research on the Brain). This federation brings together associations of patients with brain disease:

  • Parkinson disease,
  • Alzheimer's disease,
  • epilepsy,
  • amyothrophic lateral sclerosis,
  • stroke
  • multiple sclerosis.

The purpose of the FRC is to support basic and clinical research for these diseases. The Neurodon campaign raises funds to fund research projects. Several tenders are organized each year. Many French research teams respond to it. The FRC's scientific council selects the best projects to be funded. As brain diseases affect a very large number of people, it is our responsibility as citizens to support research work to help relieve and sometimes cure these serious brain diseases.

Note that Onmeda has been a partner of the Neurodon since 2008.
