According to the texts, the nursery school can accommodate children from 2 years old; some schools require the child to be clean.
Some criteria will help you to know if the child is ready or not. Does he support being separated from his mother? Is he quite independent (he will pee all alone, he recognizes his name, ...)? Is he comfortable in the middle of a group of children?
How to prepare it?As soon as you can, go past the school to tame this new space with him. Take advantage of the open days to visit the premises with him. Tell him your own school memories, inform him of the rhythm of the day, without forgetting the small inconveniences he may encounter; give him the feeling that going to school will make him a "big guy".
With days from 8:30 to 16:30, your child will be quickly tired, so it is important during the summer to gradually get used to this "school" pace. When leaving school, let him relax quietly; in the evening, make sure to go to bed early.
What will he learn at school? To train the personality of the child, to enable him to acquire autonomy within a community, to offer him the means of constituting the base of the necessary skills for fundamental learning; this is the vocation of kindergarten. To fulfill this mission, 5 areas of activity are defined; play, as a child's natural activity, is the preferred learning technique.
The child shares activities and common spaces with others. He learns to build relationships with his peers, to speak, to listen to each other in the context of common activities.
Speak and build your language
The child learns to express with more precision his emotions, his desires. He participates in language games, listens to stories, focuses on the meaning of words. He is introduced to the world of writing, recognizing his name for example.
Act and express yourself with your body
Since action and experimentation are essential learning modes, the child explores the space around him, manipulates familiar objects, does gymnastics or dance with hoops, balloons. ..
Discover the world
The child learns to know the world around him and to respect him. He explores objects and understands how they work, discovers materials and the living world. He participates in manual activities (cooking, gardening ...). Finally, he learns to take responsibility by integrating rules of prudence and hygiene.
Feel, imagine, create
The child develops his sensitivity, his imagination and his ability to create. Music education involves listening to works from all periods and through singing sessions and musical workshops. Children are introduced to the visual arts during observation sessions of works and drawing and painting workshops.
