Signs of pancreatic cancer are usually not specific.
These manifestations can be stomach pains, quite strong, which often radiate towards the back of the back, and increase after taking meals.
Other symptoms may be:
- fatty stools,
- diabetes ...
- sometimes acute pancreatitis.
Other events may be more specific, such as:
- hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
- ulcers in the stomach or duodenum.
These signs may be related to tumors of a particular type.
When these symptoms occur, the advice of a doctor is of course necessary. He will prescribe examinations, and refer the patient generally to a gastroenterologist.
Further explorations are required to clarify the origin of the symptoms and to make an accurate diagnosis.
A blood test (with a biological assessment), an ultrasound, a scanner are the most common exams.
An echo-endoscopy can also be performed. A fine ultrasound probe is passed through the mouth to descend into the digestive tract to the duodenum located near the pancreas. On a screen, the doctor can view the pancreas. Sometimes, during this examination, a small sample of the pancreas can be done (this is a biopsy). You want to react, to give your testimony or to ask a question?
